Online prenatal classes are a great way to prepare for labor and delivery from the comfort of your home.  Some classes are pre-recorded while others, like MyPregnancyPro‘s classes are taught by a live instructor, who is also a Registered Nurse.  These are two very important elements for an online prenatal class.  First, it means that your instructor is immediately available for questions as your questions come up during class and secondly, it means that your instructor has real labor room experience.  Because of this real experience, the information you receive will be accurate and realistic. Our goal is to eliminate fear and surprises from your birth.

How do we do that? Well, during your online prenatal class with MyPregnancyPro, you will learn the following information:

  • Birth Planning – what it is, how to write one and the best way to use one.

  • Anatomy and Physiology – the various parts of your pregnancy anatomy and their roles.

  • Monitoring – External Monitoring, intermittent vs. continuous.

  • Group Beta Strep – what it is and how it is treated.

  • The Cervix – how your cervix changes and where we need it to be.

  • Signs of Labor – Signs that occur 1-7 days before true labor begins.

  • How to Time Contractions – the proper way to time your contractions and when to begin timing them.

  • When to Call Your Doctor – rules of when to call your doctor for labor.

  • When to Come to the Hospital – when to expect to be sent into the hospital.

  • What to do if your water breaks – things to look for and report to your provider.

  • Stages of Labor – what to expect and what you and your partner can do during each stage.

  • Pushing – how to push, positioning, expectations.

  • Delivery – Your baby is born!  Various scenarios that may occur and how to be prepared.

  • Recovery – what to expect immediately after your baby is born.

  • Postpartum – hospital stay, expectations.

  • Epidurals – answers to frequently asked questions, a step-by-step overview of how it is administered, and expectations.

  • Internal monitors – what they are and why they are used.

  • Induction/Augmentation/Cervical Ripening – Why you may be induced, how you will be induced and what to expect.

  • Breaking your Water – If your water does not break, how it will be broken.

  • Episiotomies – when they are needed and how they are performed.

  • Vacuums/Forceps – when they are needed and how they are performed.

  • C-Sections – a complete overview of scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency c-sections.

  • Recovery – Emotional, preparing your home, what to expect.
